Developers in Edmonton say they need help from the government to try to attract more residents to the downtown area.
They say that in order to make the area more attractive as a place to live it needs parks, and the kind of shops and facilities necessary for daily life.
Speaking at the Real Estate Forum Thursday, Michael Smith, senior vice-president for multi-family at WAM Development Group, said in the arena area where his firm is building: “There’s a lack of grocery [stores], banks are a little far-spread, and there’s not a lot of dry cleaners or pharmacies.”
